Board of Chiropractic Examiners Disciplinary Guidelines
The Board of Chiropractic Examiners (BCE) reported they had approximately 13,191 licensed California chiropractors in 2017. BCE is a consumer protection agency under the California Department of Consumer Affairs with the primary mission of protecting consumers of chiropractic services from potentially harmful licensees. BCE published statistics show they received 497 consumer complaints and referred 495 complaints for investigation in fiscal year 2017.
BCE has a complex system of categorizing offenses and deciding the appropriate disciplinary action. To achieve its consumer protection mandate, BCE has codified its rules in the Board of Chiropractic Examiners Disciplinary Guidelines & Model Disciplinary Orders.
The California Department of Consumer Affairs reports quarterly on the quantity of chiropractor consumer complaints received, enforcement actions and convictions.
