What information should I have for the consultation?
To get the most out of your consultation:
- Have all your relevant documents with you and be prepared to answer questions about them. Depending on your immigration status and objectives, that could include your passport, visas, I-94 or I-20 form, and/or a copy of any criminal record (if applicable). Depending on your consultation submittal, we may request some specific documents before the consultation.
- Write down the questions you want answered and provide them ahead of time if you can. You can either submit on your form when purchasing the consult or email them to email@example.com noting your name in the email.
Why is there a fee for an immigration consultation?
Time spent consulting with a skilled immigration lawyer can be one of the most important conversations in your life. During the consult you have the opportunity to evaluate your attorney and get key information needed to making costly, major life decisions. You should make these decisions based on experienced advice and an accurate understanding of the laws. Charging a small fee allows us to focus our attention and invest time exploring the factors that may be important to help achieve your immigration goals.
Even if you think you have one simple question, that is rarely the case. Immigration is one of the most complex and technical areas of US law with constantly changing rules and subtleties that require skillful interpretation and analysis of many factors. What may seem like a black and white simple question, rarely is in immigration, especially under the current administration.
